Frequently Asked Questions F.A.Q.

  1. What styles are taught at Budo Tenchi Dojo?? Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu-Kuntao-Escrima-Sambo and Close Quarter Combat. At BTD the core art is Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu as taught by Soke Hatsumi. We also add aspects of Kuntao Silat, Escrima and Sambo. The Bujinkan is a very solid system made up of 9 schools which consists of stickfighting, Kenjutsu, Jutaijutsu and several other concepts. The Sambo is added to support the Newaza (ground techniques) part of training and the Kuntao adds the extra firepower and flow that enhance the Bujinkan movements. Escrima is the base behind the Close Quarter Combat portion of our training.
  2. How long has the instructor been training?? Henry has been in Budo since 1983. His martial arts training started when he was 8 in Judo. Since then he has trained and belted in several disciplines.
  3. I see you train outdoors, isn’t it better to train indoors?? When I started my training in 1999, we were training outdoors at a park. Since then my training has been indoors in beautiful dojo’s. In all honesty, I missed the outdoor training, after I moved from Kendall to Broward County I started an outdoor training group. The students seem to really enjoy it as it adds a touch of reality to the training. It also helps keep the monthly dues at minimum ($30/month). The quality of training is not affected whether it’s in or outdoors. The instructor makes the class. I also have an extremely low dropout ratio, in 2007 I had one dropout (and we don't miss him...LOL).
  4. Isn’t your monthly dues a bit to low?? Yes! I have no overhead and no ego to feed. Of course I won’t stop you from paying more if you wish to…LOL
  5. What differs your training from other Budo schools?? For starters, I’m still active in the Executive Protection and nightclub security field. I teach from experience and real life concepts. I’m not a desk jockey, I have been there, done that and lost the t-shirt…TWICE! I don’t waste time teaching concepts that will get students killed, I teach REAL WORLD Budo!
  6. Where are your schools located?? Davie (Fl), Boca Raton (Fl), Boynton Beach (Fl) Cape Cod (Mass.) and Jamaica.
  7. Have you taught anyone outside of your students?? I have had the honor of teaching at The Pentagon, The Panama Canal, TSA, Maryland Sheriffs Department, CINergy Electric and Gas (Now called Duke Power) and several other agencies which will be named at later date.
  8. Do you have proof of your security background?? Of course, that’s available for serious students to see.

How do I join?? First you go through a phone interview with me and then you are invited to class to see how you interact with everyone else. I turn away close to 60% of the students that wish to train with me.
