Budo Tenchi
Dojo is a very unique school, dedicated to making your Martial Arts experience enjoyable and effective.
Our program
goes far beyond punching, blocking, and kicking. We will help you acquire effective skills that provide you with a touch of
reality.
This is a school of Combat
and Survival, our trophy is making it home every night to our family.
Although
we honor Martial Arts traditions that go back centuries, we are dynamic and are
constantly seeking new and innovative ways to take training to the next level. We train in disciplines from
all walks of life.
We will
make each student’s journey as fun, exciting, and educating as possible. Classes are very informal compared to most Martial Arts schools. We train hard but do not make it an uncomfortable
atmosphere where you go home short winded or hating the fact that you are paying for beatings. The instructor is referred
to by his first name not his title. Any instructor that insists you call him by his title is showing his true colors(Ego).
Classes
are limited to 12 students maximum, we are not a commercial school. We train
because we love the essence of Budo. There are no contracts with us, if you want to leave we won’t
stop you. This school is only for those who are serious about survival and knowledge. We have no issue turning away potential
students. In
2007, 60% of students interested in training were turned away.
Classes
are done without any particular structure besides the training theme for the year. We show up inspired by our experiences
and go with the flow.
Aside from the teachings of the Bujinkan, we also share knowledge from other arts
that we have experienced through our Budo journey. Baguazhang, Aikido, Jiu Jitsu along with several disciplines help us round
out our training. We do not believe that there is such a thing as a complete art/system, we are practitioners of Budo, we
seek knowledge to grow in many directions and understand the meaning of movement within Budo.
The experience of Budo should be never-ending and never tunnel vision, one must be willing to learn
from others. To open your mind is the ultimate level of internal Budo. We believe in following the footsteps of the great
Martial Artists, they all cross trained, why shouldn't we??
The base art is Budo Taijutsu as taught by Masaaki Hatsumi, the founder and Soke of the Bujinkan. His teachings are
based on the nine schools that were passed down to him by his instructor, the last combat ninja Toshitsugo Takamatsu.
The nine schools are:
- Togakure Ryu Ninpo
- Gyokko Ryu Koshijutsu
- Kuki Shinden Ryu Happo Hiken
- Koto Ryu Koppojutsu
- Gikan Ryu Koppo
- Shinden Fudo Ryu Dakentaijutsu
- Gyokushin Ryu Ninpo
- Kumogakure Ryu Ninjutsu
- Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu
The ability
to learn and grow is up to the student. We give you the tools to build your Budo foundation, it’s up to you to keep
it standing.
